The most commonly prescribed PrEP medication contains a combination of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and emtricitabine these are more commonly known as Truvada and Descovy. When taken as prescribed, PrEP significantly lowers the risk of contracting HIV from sex or injection drug use.
